I live in Germany near the city of Würzburg, in a tiny village with an long name. From my window, I can watch grey herons nesting on tall trees on the banks of Main. From long distance, they look like pterodactyls; but this is more or less all fun that this village can offer.

My everyday work is bioinformatics, and I can do it without moving far from my heron window, because I’m working from home. When I’m not working on a genome of some weird creature, I am free to draw. And this is what these pages are about.

I love telling stories with pictures. I do so from my early childhood and it is even surprising that I haven’t become a professional artist. Yet, I’ve never stopped creating my characters and now I feel it’s time for them to have a real book life.

I like light, kind and warm pictures inhabited by weird creatures or funny animals. This is the manner in which I tend to draw. I do not like to draw people, landscapes, and cities. As for materials, I am a big fan of pencils, I think fondly of watercolours, and in the recent years I discovered the texture richness of acrylic colours, which are now my favourite when it comes to “real” (non-digital) drawings. I am also a very big fan of Procreate, in which I now draw most of my illustrations.
